Robeson County Health Department Services
The Robeson County Health Department, a community-focused public health provider, has been serving the southeastern area of North Carolina with affordable health care for more than a century.
With a focus on preventive and routine healthcare, the Robeson County Health Department is the first stop for public health needs. The department offers immunizations, health screenings, maternal and child health programs, the Special Supplemental Nutritional Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services, communicable disease services, and health education and outreach programs.
Hospitals and Emergency Care in Robeson County
While the county's Health Department does not include a hospital, the UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton serves Robeson County and is state-licensed. The hospital has 292 beds and a psychology unit that houses 33 beds. There are also 12 beds available in its hospice unit.
UNC Health Southeastern has 135 physicians on staff, from cardiologists and orthopedists to pediatricians and pain management specialists. The non-profit hospital offers emergency services for severe illness or trauma beyond the scope of urgent care, along with imaging and radiology services, and a surgery center.
Urgent Care Clinics and Specialized Services
UNC Health Southeastern also operates an urgent care clinic in the Southeastern Health Mall in Lumberton, at The Clinic in Walmart, and near the University of North Carolina in Pembroke. But there are also other urgent care options, including the South Robeson Health Center in Fairmont and Behavioral Health Urgent Care in Lumberton.
Urgent care clinics generally offer extended hours, including weekends when most primary physician offices are closed. They offer services for non-life-threatening but urgent issues, including wound care and minor infections or illnesses that need prompt attention. You do not need an appointment for urgent care, although at some facilities, appointments can be made by calling ahead.
Other forms of specialized services for routine or follow-up care available in the county for families and retirees include women's health, orthopedics, physical therapy, pediatrics, and cardiology.
